How Many of our Pulpits Need to be Cleansed? Does Yours?
“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: ‘The words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands.
2 “ ‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. 3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name’s sake, and you have not grown weary. 4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. 6 Yet this you have: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. 7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.’

Mark 7:6-8
6 And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,
“ ‘ This people honors me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me;
7 in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
8 You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”

Has your church turned from the word of God to the ways of tradition? Do they no longer fear the Word of God and instead fear the deacon's? Have there been no conversions in your church in a long time, or are they very rare? Does your church do any type of organized active evangelism other than showing up on Sunday? Do you hear the people tell you what a great sermon you preached, and how much they loved it and appreciate you - and yet they are not being convicted by the Word? Are you more concerned with your earthly financial security than putting your ministry on-the-line to have a healthy biblical church? Do you have a church roll of 250 and never see more than 80?
As Sean Connery asked Kevin Costner in the Untouchables; What are you prepared to do??
If any of this applies to you - I pray for you and your situation. I have been there to. But, pay special attention to Revelation 2:5 and the verses from Mark, and be willing to risk your pulpit to change it - risk it all for Christ and His kingdom!
